How this saying is actually causing a HARMFUL reaction!!! #notpositivevibesonly

Positive Vibes Only....... Think about that. This saying has been causing some negative feedback for quite some time and is not talked about enough. We all have bad days, negative things happen and we all experience negative feelings, its normal. This quote is still being widely used and making people feel less than because we aren't all positive all the time.

Toxic positivity is becoming more and more talked about as of recent years. What is toxic positivity you might be thinking. Well it is the belief that no matter the situation no matter how bad, people should maintain a positive mindset. It is often described as the good vibes only approach to life. Now positivity in a negative situation isn't always bad but forcing others to push away their negative feelings and emotions is where the problem lies.

We need to remember that some peoples only way of coping or self-soothing is to go through their negative emotions and process the event or situation. In saying that I do believe there is a time and a place for these "positive vibes only" but i don't think all negative situations need to have more pressure put on them by this saying.

There are many other quotes and sayings that project the same message such as "good vibes only", "only happy thoughts", "no negative thoughts", "no bad vibes allowed". They all convey the same message, that we aren't allowed to have negative feelings and we have to be positive and happy all the time. We all know this just isn't the case.

Our emotions and feelings make us who we are. They affect our personality, our choices, our successes and failures and our relationships. If we didn't have any negative emotions we wouldn't have any positive ones either because it would all be the same. It all adds up and we need both to balance ourselves out.

I do think it is a great thing to have positive emotions obviously but that doesn't mean we need to be positive all the time.
